a) Precondition, Damp heat, steady state, 3 days

g) Handling (last drop test)

Test a) is performed according to ASTM D4332 - 01(2006) Standard Practice for Conditioning Containers, Packages, or Packaging Components for Testing
Tests b) to g) is performed according to ASTM D 4169-09 (Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems).
After each of the exposures b) to h), a visual inspection of the outside part of the package(es) followed by a brief function check (max. 5 – 10 min in total) is performed:

1.1 a) Precondition, Damp heat, steady state, 3 days
40°C / 93 %RH, 3 days

1.2 b) Handling (first drop test)
ASTM D4169–09, Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems, Distribution cycle 13, Schedule A, Assurance level 1.

6 falls on steel concrete performed within 10 min. after preconditioning, i.e. “wet” packages.

1.3 c) Vehicle stacking test
ASTM D4169–09, Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems, Distribution cycle 13, Schedule C, Assurance level 1.
Ref. ASTM D642-00(2010). The test is also performed within 10 min. after preconditioning,

1.4 d) Loose load vibration test
ASTM D4169–09, Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems, Distribution cycle 13, Schedule F, Assurance level 1.
Ref. ASTM D999-08, Standard Test Method for Determining Compressive Resistance of Shipping Containers, Components, and Unit Loads, Test: Vibration (sinusoidal)
1 h total: 30 min. in vertical direction, 6 min. in each of the 5 remaining directions.
The test specimens are placed loose on the vibrator table during the exposure

1.5 e) Vehicle vibration test
ASTM D 4169–09, Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems, Distribution cycle 13, Schedule E, Assurance level 1.
Ref. ASTM D4728-06, Test Method for Random Vibration Testing of Shipping Containers , Test: Broad-band random
ASD – Air: 2 h total, 40 min. in each of 3 mutually perpendicular axes.
The test specimen is fixed to the vibrator table during the exposure.

1.6 f) Concentrated impact
